The War Memorials Trust has created a new website in collaboration with the Imperial War Museum War Memorial Archive where all data on UK’s war memorial will be collated and through which people can report on memorials close to where they live so that they can be recorded, maintained and preserved. The official launch of the website will take place on 11th November.
War Memorials Online cost GBP 220,000 and was funded by English Heritage.
According to Simon Thurley, chief executive English Heritage, the project would enable “anyone and everyone to share and contribute to history.”
