Cabinet Office expected to announce re-shuffling of IT team

Cabinet Office reshuffles IT team

The Cabinet Office is expected to announce a re-shuffling in the government’s IT leadership team as part of its drive from a ‘legacy’ to a ‘future’ landscape. This is expected to mean a change in the roles of government CIO Andy Nelson and deputy government CIO Liam Maxwell. It also means a greater focus on the government digital strategy and on data centre consolidation and hosting.

Nelson is expected to remain as CIO, and will most likely deal with the Ministry of Justice’s digital transformation and strategic agenda. Maxwell will report to the executive director of the Government Digital Service, Mike Bracken.

The Cabinet Office’s executive director, Lesley Hume, will take on a large role in the new ICT strategy, and will oversee data centre consolidation and migration.
