Norfolk County Council will be the first to try out communications minister Ed Vaizey’s new initiative called Fast Start which hopes to speed up broadband roll out in the UK by bringing together all those involved in the process – such as ministers and local authorities – in hopes that issues like planning permissions can be sorted out from before roll out begins.

Norfolk CC will be spending GBP 15 million on the project. According to Vaizey, “Norfolk is on track to double access to superfast broadband for homes and businesses, and by having these discussions now, we can help ensure that the people of Norfolk will receive all the benefits that superfast broadband has to offer at the very earliest opportunity.”
