Carl Sargeant, minister for local government and communities, has said that GBP 375,000 will be distributed across Wales to help develop community council websites while each principal council in England and Wales will get GBP 40,000 to enable councillors to attend council meetings remotely.
A further GBP 1.25 million is being made available to English and Welsh county and county borough councils to encourage local democracy and public engagement by taking measures such as broadcasting council meetings and improving the information available to citizens about the areas they live in.
