In an interview, Stephen Kelly, chief operating officer for government, talks about the speed at which digital change is taking place across the government. According to him, his team is currently focusing on central government transactions being made digital and hopes that their work can be “a spark-plug to fire up an industry around digital Britain” which will include local government, education and health care, amongst other sectors.
The reality, he says, is that everyone will be asked to do more with less and digital is the best way to do this as it enables organisations to interact with citizens at a fraction of the cost.
