HMRC website next in line to move to Gov.uk

HMRC website receives between 4-6 million hits a month

HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC), the largest government transactional department with the biggest website, will be moving its corporate internet publishing to the ‘Inside Government’ section of gov.uk.

According to an HMRC spokesperson: “We will start publishing on ‘Inside Government’ in the next week or so… old content will be available on the National Archives site. We’re keen to have feedback from users on the new site and this will be used to further develop and improve the site.”

HMRC’s online advice and services are unaffected by this change; this material will remain on the HMRC site for now,” he added.

The HMRC website receives between 4-6 million hits a month and the department oversees 978m transactions per year.

‘Inside Government’ will host the websites of all government departments and several public bodies by 2014, and it is hoped that this will save at least £50m of public money annually.
