Wigan Council to join Agilisys Digital platform to improve residents’ online experience

IT and business services provider Agilisys have announced Wigan Council as the most recent customer for the full suite of modules available in the Agilisys Digital platform. That means once implemented, local residents will have the ability to access vital transactional services available on this platform, such as council tax and benefits through a single MyAccount area on the council’s website, as well as through mobile devices, including smartphones and tablets. The implementation will also include integration with the Agilisys Engage personalisation software, further improving the users’ online experience, helping to increase channel shift, therefore leading to savings for the council as users have the opportunity to choose more efficient digital channels when it suits them.

The council was able to reduce costs and simplify the purchase process by using the ground-breaking G-Cloud framework. By reducing procurement time and making pricing transparent, the actual implementation programme is able to begin that much more quickly, delivering benefits for citizens that much sooner.

James Winterbottom, Wigan Council Head of Policy and Programmes, said “Delivering digital services is a key priority for Wigan Council. In today’s digital environment, and as our recent ‘Digital Planet’ week showed,  our residents expect to be able to access services in a variety of ways – online, by phone, or in person. Demand for high quality digital access is growing significantly. We therefore want to ensure that our customers have a consistent, high quality experience whichever method they choose; and this means improving the experience we offer online to match our high quality telephone and face to face channels.  By introducing the Agilisys Digital platform, we’ll be able to provide a complete self-service option for our citizens, available 24/7, improving our residents’ service delivery experience and saving money at the same time.
