Users of the Amazon Kindle e-reader will now have access to the Met Office’s weather app which gives access to a five day weather overview, hourly forecasts as well as weather warnings. It has already been downloaded by 6.5 million people via the Android, iTunes and Windows Phone 8 platforms.
According to Terry Makewell, the Met Office head of digital and global media: “I am very excited that from today we are able to reach our customers on the Amazon Kindle Tablet platform.
“We have been working closely with Amazon over the last few months to ensure that Kindle users are obtaining up-to-date weather alerts and forecast information in a manner which is suitable to them.
“This is just one more way in which we are continuing to make our trusted content available to millions of users across a multitude of digital platforms.”
