Whilst only iPhones and iPads are currently approved for use in the public sector such as the military and defence, a new platform based on Android 4.1 with enhanced security features is being developed for tech company Getac’s tablets by cyber security firm Becrypt and will soon be added to the list.
“Features will include device encryption, system hardening, peripheral control and centralised management allowing devices to be controlled, enforces security policies, and provides audit trails and reporting,” reported publictechnology.net.
According to Peter Molyneux, President of Getac UK said: “Our Android rugged tablets coupled with Becrypt’s industry-leading security capabilities offer a powerful solution to the market. Becrypt takes an innovative approach to solving security challenges to provide accredited yet flexible solutions”.
The device will be shown at the DSEI exhibition in London in September.
