G-Cloud purge 100 services

Around 100 products have been removed from the G-Cloud platform following criticism from cloud companies like Skyscape who said it was inundated with irrelevant products, the Cabinet Office has announced.

The government has purged unsuitable products in a bid to make the platform more product-focused.

V3 was informed that following a systematic review, 100 services were removed that did not fit the bill.

“We are carrying out a systematic review of all services on G-Cloud to ensure that they fall within the advertised scope of the framework. So far, we have removed around 100 that do not,” said a G-Cloud spokesman.

Nicky Stewart, the commercial director of Skyscape, the cloud firm which organised January’s open letter has said that it is “encouraging”  that the GDS is taking the advice given to them seriously.
