A new online initiative will offer local firms contracts worth millions of pounds to stimulate economic growth across Surrey.
SupplytoSurrey will publish contracts being offered by Surrey County Council, Surrey Police, the University of Surrey and county’s 11 borough and districts.
Surrey County Council has pledged to ensure 60% of its spending on goods on services is with local businesses.
The bold online initiative follows the success of ‘Build Surrey’ which earned government recognition for being among the top 10 authorities in the country to do business with.
Denise Le Gal, Surrey County Council’s Cabinet Member for Business Services, said: “Local businesses are the bedrock of every community and launching SupplytoSurrey is about helping them and our economy thrive.
“BuildSurrey has already demonstrated our determination to help our firms create jobs, promote growth and ensure communities prosper by awarding more than £10m worth of contracts.
“With the new site offering hundreds of millions of pounds worth of contracts annually from a range of public services in Surrey, I’m sure it too will go from strength to strength.”
