Choose your Best Health and Social Care Product or Service

With just a few days left to vote for the winners of this year’s Digital Leaders 100, we wanted to let you know more about the 100 nominees who have made it onto the list across all ten categories. Today we cover Best Health and Social Care Product or Service.

The award is specifically designed to recognise an organisation from any sector that has, in the last 12 months, delivered a digital product or service that has had a transformational impact on public access to health or social care.

The ten finalists for Best Health and Social Care Product or Service are:

ALISS, HEALTH AND SOCIAL CARE ALLIANCE SCOTLAND

ALISS is a unique open source information service that has been co-produced to help communities to work together with professionals across sectors to gather, maintain and share information about local sources of support for health and wellbeing.

EMERGENCY HANDBOOK APP, APPITIZED

Appitized created the NHS Emergency Medicine Handbook app with the Royal Liverpool University Hospital to help the hospital implement mobile technology to provide better patient care. The app enables hospital staff to find patient symptoms or conditions quickly and make informed and instant independent decisions.

EPILEPSY ACTION E-LEARNING, EPILEPSY ACTION

Epilepsy Action’s e-learning resources are free, fully interactive digital tools designed to help people learn more about epilepsy. They use quizzes, animation, video and audio to present real stories and practical advice in an interactive way.

KAINOS EVOLVE, KAINOS

Kainos’s flagship Evolve Electronic Medical Records (EMR) product automates the creation, capture and handling of medical case notes and operational documents allowing healthcare providers such as hospitals and community care organisations, to deliver better patient safety and quality of care.

FLORENCE, GETFLORENCE

Florence is an intuitive, personal, self- monitoring and alerting tool which uses familiar mobile phone SMS text messaging to collect patient observational data and offers real time advice or guidance to the patient according to the information sent in.

NHS CHOICES

NHS Choices is the UK’s biggest health website, attracting 40m visits a month. Run by the Health and Social Care Information Centre, it provides evidence-based multimedia information on conditions and treatments, lifestyle choices, developments in medicine, details about the NHS in England and much more.

NUFFIELD HEALTHSCORE, NUFFIELD HEALTH

Nuffield Healthscore is a unique and personalised Fitness and Wellbeing app that guides users to make informed and proven lifestyle choices to live a longer, healthier and more active life. Learning about current health status and monitoring daily habits that affect wellbeing, the app generates a single, simple and personal health ‘score’ between 1 and 1000. Each individual’s score reacts in real-time to reflect activity levels, eating habits, stress and sleep quality as well as any changes in underlying health.

PATIENT OPINION

Patient Opinion (PO) is the UK’s leading independent feedback website for health and social care. Patient Opinion enables patients and carers to safely and easily share their experiences of care online and in public, in ways which lead to concerns being resolved, complaints avoided, and services improved. This system is now used by over 90% of NHS trusts.

SKILLS PLATFORM, SKILLS FOR HEALTH

The Skills Platform by Skills for Health is a unique marketplace resource committed to sector-specific learning and progression. The platform provides an online marketplace for skills where training providers can freely advertise their goods and services, and employers/individuals can search for and compare solutions to their training needs – whether that is direct training, mentoring, consultancy, e-learning or more informal activity.

WIDENING DIGITAL PARTICIPATION, TINDER FOUNDATION AND NHS

Tinder Foundation is working in partnership with the NHS as part of the Widening Digital Participation programme, aiming to reduce health inequalities among older people, disabled people and those on low incomes. Tinder engaged 100,000 people throughout the programme, training 50,000 to use health information online.

You have until the end of May to select overall winners from 100 finalists across ten categories, including Best Health and Social Care Product or Service.

Which product or service will win your vote? The results will be combined with the deliberations of an expert judging panel to determine the overall winners, culminating in a black-tie gala dinner on 25th June at the Hilton Hotel on Park Lane in Central London.
