IPL is rolling out CRASH across England and Wales. CRASH, short for Collision Recording And Sharing, is a platform that collects data about road collisions from police forces across different regions.
CRASH has been built for the Home Office and Department for Transport by IPL, a systems integrator specialising in digital innovation and Enterprise Information Management. The platform will help pinpoint accident ‘black-spots’ to enable the Department for Transport, Highways England and local authorities to work together to make safety improvements to the road network.
With all English and Welsh police forces expected to be feeding collision information into CRASH by March 2016, many of them via a dedicated mobile app, this will for the first time provide the agencies a national overview of road collision information. This insight will enable the agencies involved to focus highways improvement budgets and safety schemes more effectively by targeting problem roads and junctions.

As well as saving police time and taxpayer money, it will help the Department for Transport and local councils build a safer road network, which will benefit everyone in the country.

IPL has drawn on its long-standing expertise in Enterprise Information Management to draw in the right information at the right time. This ensures the authorities who make spending decisions based on CRASH’s reports can do so with confidence.”
