“Mystery shopper” recommends simplification of G-Cloud services

The Government Digital Service is set to simplify the supplier procedures for the G-Cloud service, following feedback from a “mystery shopper” test conducted by the Crown Commercial Service.

In a document published by the CCS a ‘Mystery Shopper’ “raised concerns that the process for submitting a bid for G-Cloud 6 was overly complex as suppliers were expected to provide submissions on two separate systems.”

The enquirer was particularly concerned that the process for submitting a service on the Government Digital Service platform did not make it clear when a service had been formally submitted,” the report added.

The report found that although the instructions for using the two systems are “clear and appropriate” to the audience of IT suppliers and suppliers had been contacted by the CCS, to ensure submissions were made on time, the process will be simplified in future.

It found that having two separate systems for suppliers “added additional complexity to the process” and as such the report recommends that the CCS/GDS consolidate the process into one system for the future.

In addition, further recommendations have been made to improve the usability of the GDS platform which are set to be included in the redesign of the system for the release of the G-Cloud 7 submissions for August 2015.
