It has been confirmed that the Society of Information Technology Management (Socitm) will officially introduce its women in IT initiative at an event taking place on 23rd September at The View, Cannon UK Ltd.
Sponsored by its corporate partners Cannon, the event hopes to celebrate the success and achievements of women currently working in IT and digital, as well as discuss ways in which new opportunities can be created in this sector.
Sessions at the event include “Socitm’s approach to making a difference”, “A Central Government View” and “Working with schools to encourage early interest in tech”.
The initiative has been organised by Socitm’s current President Nadira Hussain, who has previously said that promoting women within this sector ‘… is vital to the future of our profession and will benefit everyone’.
At the event there will be a host of inspirational speakers, including: Dr Sue Black, award winning computer scientist and academic, Mary McKenna MBE, technology entrepreneur and angel investor and Chi Onwurah MP, shadow cabinet minister who is currently one of the most active supporters in parliament of both gender equality in the working environment and digital government.
