HMRC looking to hire Cloud Transformation Director

HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) is recruiting for a Cloud Transformation Director to support the organisation’s aim to provide online services that are accessible from any device and at any given time, through the latest cloud technology.

What does the job involve?

The job description, posted on GOV.UK’s Civil Service Jobs, reveals that the new innovative leader will be “up for the challenge of delivering transformation on a massive scale”. They will be offered a salary of up to  £162,500.

Responsibilities of the new role include defining and leading the application of a cloud based strategy in order to generate “significant cost reduction” and “service performance improvement”, as well as uphold operational service and new projects delivery.

Reporting to Mark Dearnley, HMRC’s Chief Digital Information Officer, the Cloud Transformation Director title has been referred to as a high profile and senior role.

The job description states: “If you are looking for your next challenge, this is truly a unique opportunity, working for an ambitious organisation in a high profile, senior role, reporting direct to the Chief Digital Information Officer, leading one of the UK’s largest IT infrastructure cloud programmes.”

Qualifications needed

According to the job description, in order to apply for this role you will already be a “politically astute leader, with experience of delivering large (£50million+) infrastructure transformation projects, across complex IT systems, with the customer at the core.”

Furthermore, a candidate will have the ability to encourage and lead a number of “workstreams of project and programme managers, third party suppliers and technical professionals” in order to continually instigate service improvements.
