Royal Borough of Greenwich embraces digital transformation

The Royal Borough of Greenwich has selected a new technology provider that will enable the authority to digitally transform its service provision for environmental health, licensing, trading standards and private sector housing (including HMO).

Following a competitive procurement exercise, Royal Borough of Greenwich awarded a contract to Tascomi for the provision of a cloud based Public Protection software solution and fully integrated online services portal.

Tascomi Public Protection is fully hosted on an ISO 27001 accredited private cloud facility and is mobile by default, enabling agile working for officers in the field using any device with a browser.

The inclusion of a fully integrated online services portal will enable residents, businesses and members of the public to submit, pay for and track applications for the full range of licenses that the Council is responsible for administering.

The portal will also open up a new self-service channel for the submission and real-time tracking of service requests, improving the quality and consistency of the service delivered to citizens.

Royal Borough of Greenwich is the latest authority to opt for Tascomi Public Protection, with Arun District Council and Cheshire West and Chester Council also choosing to invest in the solution in recent months.

The mobile technology offered by Tascomi has enabled a number of quantifiable benefits for local authorities, originally identified in evidence based research carried out by Public Sector Project Nomad, and now supported by customer experiences, including:

  • 25% increase in productivity
  • 50% reduction in accommodation
  • 50% reduction in administration
  • Elimination of paper processes
