GDS advertises for digital Brexit leader

The Government Digital Service is looking to recruit a Deputy Director for EU Exit who will lead on the coordination of the digital function in response to the UK’s exit from the European Union.

The recruit – who will take home a salary of up to £117,800 – will set the direction for cross-functional, multi-disciplinary teams of policy-makers, technologists and digital experts, making it a pivotal and cross cutting role for GDS.

The position will also carry the added responsibility of being a key member of the SCS leadership team, with direct line management responsibility for GDS’s EU Exit Secretariat, a small coordination function but with significant leadership responsibility to coordinate and set direction of the work of deputy directors within GDS and across government.

They will play a central role in implementing the Government’s priorities for delivery of EU Exit, in a way that supports the Government Transformation Strategy and digital/data manifesto commitments.

The job description, which can be found here, adds that the recruit will work with colleagues and the Director team to shape GDS’s policy and broader response to the demands that EU exit places on departmental programmes and plans.

They will also play a proactive role in forging strong links with other key teams in the centre of government, particularly the Infrastructure and Projects Authority as well as, other functional experts in Cabinet Office and HM Treasury spend team.
