City Corporation and Agilisys offer digital skills to inner city London boroughs

Agilisys, the digital transformation specialist for the public sector, is working with City of London Corporation and City of London Police to provide apprenticeships, work placements and digital workshops under the terms of its recently confirmed contract extension until August 2020.

The new opportunities being created for young people include work experience placements for 14- to 18-year-olds attending City of London Academies in Southwark, Islington and Hackney, and creating opportunities for Level Four apprenticeships with Agilisys’ apprenticeship partner, Arch Apprentices.

In addition, training workshops will be hosted by Agilisys, in conjunction with the City of London Corporation, to support digital inclusion, targeted at socially excluded groups.

The City of London Corporation initially chose Agilisys as its strategic IT transformation partner in 2013, followed by City of London Police, which joined the contract in 2014. The agreed extension is based upon an option set out at the beginning of the contract for an initial five years with an option to extend for a further two years.

Agilisys provides the full range of technology services to the City Corporation, including cloud infrastructure, field engineering, service desk, network services and IT project management. It delivers to 120 key locations across London, including Guildhall; Tower Bridge; the Lord Mayor’s official residence, The Mansion House; and the Central Criminal Court (Old Bailey).

Henry Colthurst, Chairman of the City of London Corporation’s Education Committee, said: “We welcome this important next step in our partnership with Agilisys, because it enables us to progress our vitally important work to provide apprenticeships for young people, and to support socially excluded people.

“Going forward and in partnership with Agilisys, we hope that our continuing efforts to address digital exclusion, skills, and youth employment will go from strength to strength.”

Andrew Mindenhall, Chief Executive at Agilisys, added: “We are extremely proud to extend our partnership with the City of London Corporation and the City of London Police, which has been supporting joint working across both organisations.

“This extension to the contract is testament to the great work undertaken by our Agilisys employees, who are passionate about delivering high quality services to the City Corporation and its residents.”
