Liverpool City Council takes public protection and licensing services to the cloud

Liverpool City Council has selected a new technology provider that will enable the authority to digitally transform its service provision for Environmental Health, Licensing, Trading Standards and Private Sector Housing (including HMO).

Following a competitive procurement exercise, Liverpool City Council have awarded a contract to Tascomi for the provision of a cloud-based Public Protection and Licensing software solution and fully integrated online services portal.

Paul Christie, Category Manager at Liverpool City Council’s Commercial Procurement Unit, said: “The Tascomi system will help the council streamline the delivery of our core services within Public Protection and Licensing and will enable the council to make significant cost savings and other efficiencies, whilst providing a modern, agile and flexible service that matches the needs of our citizens.”

The solution is fully hosted on a secure private cloud facility and is mobile by default, enabling agile working for officers in the field using any mobile device with a web browser.

The inclusion of a fully integrated online services portal will enable residents, businesses and members of the public to submit, pay for and track applications for the full range of licenses that the Council is responsible for administering.

The portal will also create a new digital self-service channel for the submission and real-time tracking of citizen service requests, improving the quality and consistency of the service delivered.

Liverpool City Council is the latest of a number of authorities to opt for Tascomi Public Protection, with Arun District Council, Cheshire West and Chester Council and Royal Borough of Greenwich also choosing to invest in the solution in recent months.
