East London centre of excellence to deliver nearly 30% cost reduction over five years through cloud-based IT services
London, UK (19 July) – The City of London Corporation today decided to award innovative and fast-growing ICT and business services provider Agilisys a 5-year contract to deliver a managed cloud-based IT service that will see the organisation’s IT costs reduced by nearly 30% over the life of the contract.
The contract will be delivered from Agilisys’ East London centre of excellence, which also includes the company’s Elevate East London joint venture with Barking and Dagenham Council, meaning that together Agilisys and the City of London Corporation will continue to support and grow the local East London economy.
Agilisys’ entrepreneurial heritage makes it especially suited for this contract, given the City of London Corporation’s unique position supporting not only local residents and businesses, but also the UK-based global financial services industry.
The contract, which will see approximately 30 staff TUPE transfer to Agilisys, includes a range of services, including voice and data networks, systems provision and support, disaster recovery and business analysis, with the option for additional transformational and developmental services in the future.
The strategic partnership will also see the two organisations work together to create 100 digital apprenticeships, for 16-18 year olds from the City and nearby fringe and priority boroughs, as well as support for local start up social enterprise organisations and SMEs. These programmes build on Agilisys’ successful Arch Apprentice programme which had its formal launch in Tower Hamlets, and the company’s experience developing and encouraging small business growth as managers of the Barking Enterprise Centre.
Roger Chadwick, Chairman of the Finance Committee, City of London Corporation, said: “We were looking for a strategic partner, who understood our business and could tailor their service to meet our needs. Agilisys demonstrated this and also had a strong understanding of – and commitment to – corporate responsibility, and so will be responsive to the needs of our stakeholders and the people we serve across London. In Agilisys, we believe we have found a partner that will meet our unique needs as a commercial and employment hub for London.”
Graham Bell, Chief Information Officer, City of London Corporation added “After a thorough procurement process, Agilisys was the clear choice for the City of London. We have an ambitious IS Strategy, business change and service improvement programme, the Agilisys bid responded to this and was best placed to help the Corporation achieve these goals.
Agilisys CEO Steven Beard said, “We’re extremely pleased to add the City of London Corporation to our growing East London centre of excellence, and are committed to the local area, as seen in the more than 100 jobs we have created since 2011 in partnership with Barking and Dagenham, and the more than 1000 learning opportunities we are providing to residents of Tower Hamlets. We are proud to be working with the oldest council in the country that provides such vital support not only locally, but to the national economy. We believe shared culture and values will ensure a successful partnership with the City of London Corporation, and look forward to working together to deliver excellent service for the council, and exceptional benefits for the local citizens.”
