As Welsh innovators gather under the roof of the iconic Wales Millenium Centre, software business Zipporah stands out, picking up two Estnet Awards for innovation and leadership.
Zipporah is enjoying the limelight once again after two major successes at the annual ceremony of Welsh innovation, the Estnet Awards – an occasion which has become a firm fixture in the Welsh technology calendar.
The sixth outing for the Estnet Awards demonstrated why Wales is right to be excited about its technology successes, with 12 categories up for grabs and over 350 guests in attendance.
Along for the ride was Zipporah, who managed to secure wins across 2 of the 12 categories.
Crowned winners of the Awards ‘Innovative Software’ category, Zipporah’s product Advance found recognition for its game changing application in the bookings market.
Scott Burton, Technical Director, gave is thoughts on the result saying
“Winning a product award is massive for us. It goes that one step further than highlighting general success, and really points out the specifics of what we are doing well, and where the innovation is coming from. Since everyone at Zipporah plays a role in driving and maintaining the product, it’s a key win for the team. We’re really happy to receive recognition from Estnet, who have once again put on a fantastic evening”.
Zipporah’s product win was joined with a second as Director Emma Powell sealed the title of best ‘Industry Role Model’, an award which looks to recognise the individual who has had the greatest impact and contributed most to the sector.
Emma thanked the judges, commenting
“I feel honoured to have won the award for ‘Industry Role Model’. It’s helped me to realise what a privilege it is to be involved in the industry, and what an important responsibility it is to inspire others here in Wales. There’s no secret formula for success, just hard work and determination – and I think it’s these attributes which characterise much of the success here tonight, and which will help drive technology in Wales even further”.
The Awards, coordinated by The Estnet, took place in Cardiff Bay’s crowning venue, the WMC, proving to be a memorable night with guest speakers including the BBC’s Jason Mohammad and the face of GoCompare, Wynne Evans join Julie James, AM in praising the collective effort of Welsh businesses across the technology sector.
CEO of Estnet and one of the technology industry’s key voices in Wales, Avril Lewis, rounded off the evening with the words
“This year’s awards are once again testament to the fantastic work and innovation taking place within Wales’ technology sector… We have seen examples of extraordinary achievement at an individual and company level. The next step is to achieve greatness”.
